Online threats – social engineering

What is Social Engineering? 🤔
❗ Have you ever received a call from a “bank employee” asking for your personal information? Or an email urging you to click on a suspicious link?
Social engineering is a technique where attackers manipulate victims into voluntarily revealing sensitive information, such as passwords, banking details, or personal data. Scammers often exploit emotions like fear, curiosity, or trust in authority.
🔑 Examples of Social Engineering:
✅ Fake Calls: Someone poses as a bank employee and requests your password or credit card number.
✅ Phishing Emails: Messages that appear to be official communication from a bank, postal service, or other institution, asking you to enter personal details.
✅ Fake Prize Scams: Notifications claiming you’ve won a prize, but requiring you to provide your financial information to claim it.
🚫 How to Protect Yourself:
👉 Never share personal or financial information over the phone or email.
👉 If you receive a suspicious message, check the organization’s official website.
👉 Don’t click on links in suspicious messages or e-mails.
👉 Talk to a family member or friend if something feels off.
🛡️ Remember: Scammers often rely on your kindness and trust. Take your time and always double-check information before taking action.
